How we measure the impact of our service:
As a service we have previously monitored outcomes using an internally devised measure, developed collaboratively with young people based around their general wellbeing and related to Every Child Matters (ECM) outcomes. This "Before and Review" data over the past 3 years shows an average of over 30% improvement in the general wellbeing of Youth Start clients. This data, together with information gathered through the Session Rating Scale, is routinely used in supervision, evaluation, planning and development and with individual young people, to ensure the service maintains its young person centred focus. We share outcome information and report quarterly to management and annually to partners. The internal 'Before and Review' system will be replaced by Young Person Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation (CORE-YP) in September 2013.
How we use data and information that we collect?:
We currently collect information about user experience through: Session Rating Scale, recording all verbal comments, comment cards, twice yearly questionnaires, email and facebook comments. Young people are part of the staff recruitment team and regularly contribute though specific focus groups, which shapes who we recruit and how we operate e.g. recent review of confidentiality. The most recent satisfaction report gave Youth Start an average score of 76.9 out of 80 against service experience criteria devised by service users.
